226 Chapter 19 Replacing data cards and processing hardware

Removing the clock/calendar battery

This section explains how to correctly remove the clock/calendar battery.

1If you still have access to the Unified Manager, shut down the system using the Shutdown command. For details refer to “Shutting down the system software” on page 168. Otherwise, skip to step 2.

2Set up the BCM1000 for maintenance, as described in “Shutting down the system hardware” on page 169.

3Attach one end of the grounding strap to your wrist and the other end to a grounded metal surface.

4If the system has a redundant power supply, you may need to remove this before removing the battery. Refer to Chapter 18, “Replacing a power supply,” on page 205.

5Use your finger to carefully lift the battery out of the socket. For the location of the battery socket, refer to Figure 133.

Caution: Do not use any type of tool to remove the battery.
