Troubleshooting fan operation

There are two LEDs on the front of the BCM1000 and one on the front of the expansion cabinet that can be used to assess fan function. Refer to Figure 103.

Removing a fan from the BCM1000

The BCM1000 can have one or two fans.

If the BCM1000 has two fans, before you shut down the system, determine which fan has failed.

1If you still have access to the Unified Manager, shut down the system using the Shutdown command. For details refer to “Shutting down the system software” on page 168. Otherwise, skip to step 2.

2Set up the BCM1000 for maintenance, as described in “Shutting down the system hardware” on page 169.

3Attach one end of the grounding strap to your wrist and the other end to a grounded metal surface.
