nReserving a Slot

Reserving a slot for later use, when the cnstomeis future expansion needs are known at the time of the initial instalktion, can eliminate the need to physically move cards when the new cardisadded.

Fbr example, if eight line cards (slots Al-As) and two integration cards (slots A9 and AlO) are to be installed i&ally, but the au&omer’s expansion needs indicate an additkmal line card and an additional integration card are needed in the near future., slot A!J should be reserved for the additkmal line card at the time of the initial kstallation. The integr&ion cardsonthenbeinstalledinitiallyinslotsA10and~l,eliminatingtheneedtophyslcally moveanycardstoaddthenewlinecardinslotA9andthethirdintegrationcardinslotA12

 

The folIowing is an example of reserving slot A9 for a line card when the INSDILL program

prompts for the configuration of that slot as the first integration card.

H Using UPDATE

Use the UPDATE program to:

*LIST one or all slots

ADD a slot

MODIFY a slot

DELETE a slot

IF The following changes to integration slots require that the integration cards be restarted before the changes take effect:

Adding or deleting integration slots

ModiQing line appearances for an integration slot

Modifying-whether message waiting.links are enabkd or disabled.

To execute the command, at the Q prompt, enter.

This command restarts the integration cards and therefore disrupts call processing for approximately one to two minutes.
