Performing Basic Troubleshooting Steps

This chapter suggests steps to solve common problems that you might encounter while using the printer. If the printer does not work properly, check the following items first:

zIs the printer connected to a live power source?

zIs the printer online?

zAre the communications cables from the printer to the network or the host computer connected?

zAre the parallel cables IEEE-1284 compliant?

zAre any messages displayed on the printer control panel?

zIf you recently replaced a toner cartridge, did you remove the orange tab?

zWere the printer and its software installed correctly?
