OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Read and understand this entire section before operat-
ing your Ranger 305D.
SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS
Do not attempt to use this equipment until you have
thoroughly read all the operating and maintenance
manuals supplied with your machine. They include
important safety precautions; detailed engine starting,
operating and maintenance instructions and parts lists.

• Do not touch electrically live parts such
as output terminals or internal wiring.
Insulate yourself from work and
ground.
• Always wear dry insulating gloves.

• Use ventilation or exhaust to remove
fumes from breathing zone.

of its doors open or guards off.
• Stop the engine before servicing it.

ADDITIONALSAFETY
PRECAUTIONS
Always operate the welder with the hinged door closed
and the side panels in place. These provide maximum
protection from moving parts and insure proper cooling
air flow.
GENERALDESCRIPTION
The Ranger 305D is a diesel-engine-powered DC
multi-process welding power source and 120 / 240
VAC power generator. The engine drives a generator
thatsupplies three-phase power for the DC welding cir-
cuit and single-phase power for the AC auxiliary out-
lets. The DC welding control system uses state of the
art Chopper Technology (CTTM) for superior welding
performance.
