11: User Authentication

2. Enter the following information for the user:

Login

User ID of selected user.

 

 

Authentication

Select the type of authenticated user:

 

Local: User listed in the SLB database.

 

Remote: User not listed in the SLB database.

 

 

UID

A unique numeric identifier the system administrator assigns to

 

each user. Valid UIDs are 101-4294967295.

 

Note: The UID must be unique. If it is not, SLB branch office

 

manager automatically increments it. Starting at 101, the SLB finds

 

the next unused UID.

 

 

Listen Ports

The device ports that the user may access to view data using the

 

connect listen command. Enter the port numbers or the range

 

of port numbers (for example, 1, 5, 8, 10-15). U and L denote the

 

PC Card upper and lower slots.

 

 

Data Ports

The device ports with which the user may interact using the

 

connect direct command. Enter the port numbers or the range

 

of port numbers.

 

 

Clear Port

The device port buffers the users may clear using the set

Buffers

locallog clear command. Enter the port numbers or the range

 

of port numbers.
