2 Troubleshooting Procedures

Procedure 2 Connector Check and Replacement Check

If the Wireless LAN port malfunctions, there may be a bad connection between the antenna boards, the Wireless LAN Mini PCI card, and the system board (FQDSY*). Or the antenna board, the Mini PCI card, or the system board may be damaged.

Disassemble the computer following the steps described in Chapter 4, Replacement Procedures and perform the following checks:

Check 1 Make sure that the Wireless LAN Mini PCI card is properly installed in the Mini PCI slot, and that the right and left antenna cable is firmly connected to the Mini PCI card.

If any connectors are disconnected, connect it firmly and repeat Procedure 1. If the Wireless LAN is still not functioning properly, perform Check 2.

Check 2 The antennas may be defective or damaged. Replace them with new ones following the steps in Chapter 4, Replacement Procedures. If the wireless LAN still is'nt functioning properly, perform Check 3.

Check 4 The wireless LAN mini PCI card may be defective or damaged. Replace it with a new one following the steps in Chapter 4, Replacement Procedures. If the wireless LAN still isn't functioning properly, perform Check 5.

Check 5 The system board (FQDSY*) may be defective or damaged. Replace the system board with a new one following the steps in Chapter 4, Replacement Procedures.
