2.11 LAN Troubleshooting

Procedure 2 Connector Check and Replacement Check

If the LAN port malfunctions, there may be a bad connection between the RJ-45/RJ-11 jacks and the System Board. Or the System Board may be damaged.

Disassemble the computer following the steps described in Chapter 4, Replacement Procedures and perform the following checks:

Check 1 Make sure the RJ-45/RJ-11 jacks are firmly connected to system board PJ124.

If a connector is disconnected, connect it firmly and repeat Procedure 1. If the LAN port is still not functioning properly, perform Check 2.

Check 2 The RJ-45/RJ-11 jacks may be defective or damaged. Replace it with a new one following the steps in Chapter 4, Replacement Procedures. If the LAN port is still not functioning properly, perform Check 3.

Check 3 The system board may be defective or damaged. Replace the system board with a new one following the steps in Chapter 4, Replacement Procedures.
