2.5 FDD Troubleshooting

Procedure 3 Connector Check and Replacement Check

The 3.5-inch FDD is connected to the USB board.

Check 1 Make sure that the FDD cable is firmly connected to the USB port, and that the USB board is firmly connected to the system board.

If any of the connections are loose, reconnect firmly and repeat Procedure 2. If any of the connections is damaged, or there is still an error, go to Check 2.

Check 2 The FDD or FDD cable may be defective or damaged. Replace it with a new one and repeat Procedure 2. If the FDD is still not functioning properly, perform Check 3.

Check 3 The USB board may be defective or damaged. Replace it with a new one following the steps described in Chapter 4, Replacement Procedures. If the FDD is still not functioning properly, go to Check 4.

Check 4 Replace the System board with a new one following the steps in Chapter 4.
