VERIFYING COMMUNICATIONS OVER AN IP LAN

Introduction

When an ETHERNET port is connected to a local area network (LAN), test steps must be performed on the ATLAS 550 to ensure that the unit is communicating properly over the network. This procedure outlines those steps.

Prerequisite Procedures

Before beginning this procedure, the unit should be physically connected to the LAN and the provisioning tasks detailed in DLP-003should be complete.

Tools and Materials Required

Access to a PC or other computer connected to the LAN

To prevent electrical shock, do not install equipment in a wet location or during a lightning storm.

Electronic modules can be damaged by static electrical discharge. Before handling modules, wear an antistatic discharge wrist strap to prevent damage to electronic components. Place modules in antistatic packing material when transporting or storing. When working on modules, always place them on an approved antistatic mat that is electrically grounded.
