Alternate mark inversion. A Layer 1 line code used in a T1 carrier. Zeros are transmitted as zero volts, and ones are transmitted as pulses that alternate polarity. Although B8ZS is an enhancement to AMI, B8ZS and AMI are normally referred to as

Automatic Number Identification. Service provided by a local phone company that provides incoming Caller ID information.
