4 Basic procedures

This section introduces all basic procedures that might be needed to start or complete a replacement or expansion task. The individual basic procedures applicable for a replacement or expansion task are indicated in the procedure related to this task.

4.1Using diagnostics information

Use the ServerView Suite to prepare the replacement of hardware components. In the event of hardware replacements due to an error message, use remote diagnostics mechanisms before going to the server site. For more information see ServerView documentation on the following topics:

Please contact your local Fujitsu service department for details on the service concept for your server as well as key data that need to be close at hand when explaining the problem, organizing the replacement, and ordering spare parts.

The following diagnostics procedures help you to perform the replacement task when you start to install the spare part.

4.1.1Locate the faulty server

Trained personnel

ÊCheck the Global Error indicator and the CSS indicator at the front and rear of the server:

Global Error indicator (orange)

Lights up orange if a prefailure event has been detected that requires (precautionary) service intervention.

Flashes orange if an error was detected that requires service intervention.

Does not light up if there is no critical event.
