Dual Inline Memory Modules (DIMMs)
The Compaq Professional Workstation AP500 has four DIMM slots on the system board to support up to a maximum of 1 GB. See the following illustration for the physical location of the DIMM sockets.

Important Guidelines for DIMM Installation
When installing DIMMs, you MUST follow these guidelines:
■Use only
■DIMMs must have a
■DO NOT INSTALL DIMMS THAT DO NOT SUPPORT ERROR CHECKING AND CORRECTING (ECC).
■A DIMM can be installed one way only. Be sure to match the two key slots on the DIMM with the tab on the DIMM socket. Push the DIMM down into the DIMM socket, ensuring that it is fully inserted and properly seated.
■When upgrading, do not exceed 1 GB total. Upgrades exceeding 1 GB will cause the system to halt.
