To delete an existing storage hierarchy, select theLoad Existing button on the Storage Hierarchy
Configuration window and select the desired storage hierarchy from the popup list. The window
will be refreshed with the configured data. Click on theDelete button to delete the storage
hierarchy. Refer to Section 3.12.2: Deleting Storage Hierarchy Definition (page 81) in the HPSS
Management Guide for more guidelines on deleting a storage hierarchy configuration.
Referto the window’s help file for more information on the individual fields and buttons as well as
the supported operations available from the window.
The following rules for creating valid storage hierarchies are enforced by theStorage Hierarchy
Configuration Window:
1. A given storage class may only be used once in a given hierarchy.
2. Disk migration may migrate to one or more target levels in the hierarchy. The first target
level must be immediately below the migrating level. Subsequent target levels must also
be below the migrating level, but need not be consecutive.
3. Tapemigration may only migrate to a single target level in the hierarchy. This targetlevel
must be immediately below the migrating level.
4. A given storage class may only be a migration target for a single level above it in the
hierarchy.
