●Hold the mute cover upright so that the ridges on
the cover are towards you and at the top.

●Slide the left tab on the mute cover into the left hole
on the front cover.
●Drop the right tab on the mute cover into the right
slot on the front cover. Close the mute cover by
swinging it down.
Connecting the printer to the computer
We assume here that you are connecting the printer to
an IBM or IBM-compatible computer, using the parallel
interface. If you are connecting using aserial interface,
or connecting to any other type of computer, read Chap-
ter 5.
Note: Beforeconnecting or disconnecting the printer andthe com-
puter, make surethatthepowertoboththe printerandthe
computeristurnedOFF.Ifthepowerisonwhen youmakeor
breaktheseconnections,thereisariskthatyouwill damage
thecircuitryofthecomputerand/ortheprinter.Repairscan
beexpensive!
