Installing Memory-Module Kits

5.Touch the static-protective package to any unpainted metal surface on the server. Then, remove the memory-module kit from the package.

6.Install the kit:

a.Start with the lowest-numbered sockets in bank 1.

b.Turn the memory module so that the notched end .1/ is on the left, and the top faces away from you.

c.Insert the SIMM into the memory-board connector, downward at a 45-degree angle.

d.Press the SIMM firmly into the socket .2/, until it is grasped by the retaining clips .3/. Verify that the SIMM has been installed correctly. If the SIMM remains at an angle, it has been installed correctly. If a gap exists between the SIMM and the clips, the SIMM has not been properly installed. In this case, open the clips and remove the SIMM; then, reinsert the SIMM.
