This appendix explains how to define AS/400 files using Data Description Specifications (DDS specs). DDS specs define
DDS specs are created using the Programming Development Manager (PDM) utility on the AS/400. In order to use PDM you must have authority to it. Your system administrator can verify whether you will be able to use PDM.
To create DDS specs for a file, you must know how each field in the file is defined. For example, you should know the field name, field length, and whether the field is numeric or alphabetic.
This appendix shows you how to create DDS specs with PDM by providing an example for you to follow.
