Using an external display and mouse to operate the MV-8800

You can connect an external display (VGA) and the included mouse, and perform operations from the external display.
Even when you are using an external display to operate the MV-8800, you can also view information on the MV-8800’s
built-in LCD screen.

Switching between the two operating modes

Here’s how to select either the external display or the built-in LCD as the screen in which you will operate the
MV-8800.

1.

Press [SYSTEM]

The SYSTEM MENU screen (Screen Guide; p. 172) will appear.

With the cursor located in the lower row of icons, press [F3](Disp/Mouse). Alternatively,
you can select the DISPLAY/MOUSE icon and press [ENTER].

The DISPLAY/MOUSE screen (Screen Guide; p. 184) will appear.

Press [F5](LCD

VGA).

From the menu bar, click “SYSTEM”

“Display/Mouse.”

The DISPLAY/MOUSE screen (Screen Guide; p. 184) will appear.

Click .

You will be able to operate in the built-in LCD.

You can press the [SHIFT] + [EXIT] buttons to switch the operating mode from the external display to the
internal LCD.
When the external display shows the “Roland MV-8800 logo”
In this state you use the MV-8800’s panel and its own built-in LCD to perform operations. The external
display and mouse cannot be used for operations.
When the MV-8800’s LCD indicates “VGA MODE”
You can operate the MV-8800 from the external display (VGA mode). You can use the front panel to
perform the same operations as before, and also operate the MV-8800 using the included mouse. The
MV-8800’s LCD will indicate the status of the tracks and the samples assigned to the velocity pads.
How to confirm the operating mode
In VGA mode, you can also perform operations from the MV-8800’s panel.
