Importing data

Loading sound libraries of other model

You can load sound library data that was created for a model other than the MV-8800.
When you load a Roland S-700 series patch file, or an AKAI MPC series or S-series program file, its structure
will be re-created on the MV-8800.
This lets you create a patch without having to make assignments to the velocity pads.

1.

Using the same procedure as described up to step 4 of “Importing the WAV or AIFF files”

(p. 65), select the sound library (patch or program) that you want to import.

2.

Press [F5](Import).

The ASSIGN TO PART / LIBRARY popup (Screen Guide; p. 224) will appear.

Part

If the To parameter is set to “Part,” specifies the part in which the new patch will be created.
Range: Off, 1–16

Library

If the To parameter is set to “Library,” specifies the library number in which the new patch will be created.
Range: Off, 1–128

F-buttons

3.

Press [F5](Execute).

The patch will be imported into the specified part and library.

Some imported data may not be reproduced correctly.

To create a patch using the types of data listed in the gray portion of the table, refer to “Importing the WAV or
AIFF files” (p. 65).

If you want to import into only one of these (part only or library only), turn the other setting Off.

F-buttons Explanation

[F3](With Delete) Deletes the samples used by the specified part or library patch (Delete Patch), and then import
the data.
[F5](Execute) Imports the patch to the specified location.

You cannot create a patch simply by loading Akai MPC2000/2000XL program files (.PGM) alone. The sound
files (.SND or .WAV) must also be present in the same folder as the program file.

The data on an Akai MPC2000/2000XL or S1000/S3000 CD-ROM is organized into proprietary units called
“partitions.” On the MV-8800, these will appear as folders named PARTITION A, PARTITION B, and so on.

When Akai MPC2000/2000XL or S1000/S3000 program files or sound files are converted, the category name
will be “AK” and the patch name will be the first twelve characters of the program file name.
