You can divide a sample at the desired points and assign them to partials.
1.
Press [F3](Quick Assign) in “Importing the WAV or AIFF files” (p. 65) step 6 or “Importing
from an audio CD” (p. 70) step 7.
The Select Quick Assign message (Screen Guide; p. 213) will appear.
2.
Press [F1](Chop).
The CHOP popup (Screen Guide; p. 159) will appear.

Specify the Current Point parameter.
The sample will be divided at the Current Point you specify.
4.
Press [F1](Add Point).
A new dividing point with Current Point will be created. If you want to assign additional dividing points, repeat
step 4.
5.
Press [F5](AsgnToPatch).
The sample will be divide at the time location(s) you specified. The CHOP QUICK ASSIGN popup (Screen
Guide; p. 161) will appear.

6.
Specify the Part (part number), part bank, and velocity pad number (note number) to which
you want to assign the divided sounds.
7.
Press [F5](Execute).
The divided sample(s) will assign to the specified pads as partials of the part.
Assigning a patch by chopping a sample
You cannot chop a sample if you’re importing multiple WAV or AIFF files, or multiple tracks from an audio CD.
You can assign up to 95 points (i.e., divide the sample into 96 pieces).
If you want the dividing points to be determined automatically according to certain conditions, press
[F3](Auto Chop). The AUTO CHOP popup will appear. For details on the parameters (conditions) you can
set, refer to “AUTO CHOP popup” (Screen Guide; p. 160).
The divided samples assigned to the partial in the key follow zero (no pitch).
If you attempt to overwrite the pads that has partial, “Overwrite sure?” message appears. If you want to
overwrite, press [F5](YES). Or press [F1](No) to cancel assignment.
