M-298
MV-8800 Owner’s Manual
You can use the MV-8800 as a multi-timbral sound module.
To do so, put the MV-8800 in “Multi Timbre Sampler mode.” In Multi Timbre Sampler mode, multiple channels
of MIDI performance data can be received from a connected external MIDI sequencer and used to play the
MV-8800’s instruments and audio phrases.
Playing the MV-8800 from an externally-connected sequencer
1.
Connect your MIDI sequencer to the MV-8800’s MIDI IN connector as described in
“Preparing your equipment and making connections” (p. 26).
2.
Press [SYSTEM].
The SYSTEM MENU screen (Screen Guide; p. 172) will appear.
3.
With the cursor located in the upper row of icons, press [F3](MIDI). Alternatively, you can
select the MIDI icon and press [ETNER].
The MIDI screen (Screen Guide; p. 177) will appear.

the MIDI IN connector. When the MV-8800 receives this data, it can play instruments or audio phrases, or
modify its MFX parameters.
5.
Start playback on your external sequencer.
The performance data from the connected sequencer will play the MV-8800’s instruments or audio phrases,
or modify its MFX parameters.
Using the MV-8800 in Multi Timbre Sampler Mode
Certain limitations apply when Multi Timbre Sampler mode is on. For details, refer to “Performance Data Flow
in Multi Timbre Sampler Mode” (p. 299) and “Limitations when Multi Timbre Sampler Mode is On” (p. 299).
When the Multi Timbre Sampler Mode parameter is on, your external MIDI device will also be able to play audio
phrases on the channel specified by the Audio Phrase Rx Channel parameter.
