MV-8800 Owner’s Manual

Synchronizing the MV-8800 with a connected external sequencer

The MV-8800 can be operated in synchronization with an external MIDI sequencer or hard disk recorder.
Please read the owner’s manual for your device in conjunction with the explanation that follows.
The MV-8800 can be synchronized with an external MIDI device in two ways; using MTC (MIDI Time Code)
or using MIDI Clock.
When operating in synchronization with an external device, the device that transmits MTC or MIDI clock,
serving as the timing reference, is called the “master.”
Conversely, the device that receives MTC or MIDI clock and follows the timing reference device is called the
“slave.”
Here’s how you can make an externally-connected sequencer or hard disk recorder operate in synchronization
with the MIDI Clock or MTC (MIDI Time Code) messages transmitted by the MV-8800.
In the following procedure, we make settings so that MMC (MIDI Machine Control) can be used to remotely
control an external sequencer or hard disk recorder.

Song mode

1.

Press [SONG].

The SONG screen (Screen Guide; p. 8) will appear.

4.

Specify the synchronization reference signal.

Set the Sync Mode parameter to Master. Set the MIDI Clock parameter if you want to use MIDI Clock for
synchronization, or the MTC parameter if you want to use MTC for synchronization.

5.

Specify the MMC setting.

Set the MMC Mode parameter to Master, and set the Output parameter “On” for the MIDI connector from which
you want to transmit MMC.
