Maintenance

7.Enter:

luxadm remove loop_name,snumber

where loop_name is the name of the fiber channel loop, and where number is the slot number for the disk drive. Example:

luxadm remove FCloop,s3

A message similar to the following is displayed:

WARNING!!! Please ensure that no filesystems are mounted on these device(s). All data on these devices should have been backed up.

The list of devices which will be removed is:

1:Box Name: "FCloop" slot 3

Node WWN: 20000004cf81e4d4 Device Type:Disk device Device Paths: /dev/rdsk/c1t3d0s2

Please verify the above list of devices and

then enter 'c' or <CR> to Continue or 'q' to Quit. [Default: c]:

Note:

If a "device is busy" message is displayed, verify that the correct device is being removed. Retry the command using the -Foption. For example, enter

luxadm remove -F FCloop,s3.

8.Verify that the disk you want to remove is displayed.

9.Choose one of the following:

If the correct device is displayed, enter: c

If the correct device is not displayed, enter: q

If you removed the device, a message similar to the following is displayed:

stopping: Drive

in

"FCloop"

slot

3....

Done

offlining: Drive

in

"FCloop"

slot

3....

Done

Hit <Return> after removing the device(s).

The amber LED for the disk turns on when the disk can be safely removed from the computer. The green LED for the disk starts blinking slowly.

10.Attach one end of an ESD antistatic wrist strap to the system chassis sheet metal and attach the other end to your wrist. See Using an ESD wrist strap on page 58 for more information.
