Operator Panel Service Check

The printer detects a problem with the operator panel assembly, operator panel cable, interconnect board or controller board, when a POR does not complete and the printer emits 5 beeps.

If the operator panel operates properly, except for a PEL or a few PELs missing or broken, run the “LCD Test” on page 3-10, before continuing with this service check.

	FRU	Action
1	Operator Panel	Check for proper installation of the cable at J1
	Cable	on the interconnect board.
		•	If correctly installed, check the continuity of
			the cable.
		•	If incorrect, replace the cable.
2	Operator Panel	Verify the voltage at J1-2 on the interconnect
	Display Blank,	board measures approximately +5 V dc.
	5 Beeps and
	LED Off	•	If incorrect, replace the interconnect board.
		•	If correct, replace the operator panel
			assembly.
3	Operator Panel	Verify the connection between J1-4 on the
	Display Blank,	interconnect and ground measures
	5 Beeps and	approximately 0 ohms.
	LED On	•	If incorrect, replace the interconnect board.
		•	If correct, replace the operator panel
			assembly.
4	Operator Panel all	Verify any memory DIMMs and the COS SIMM
	Diamonds and	are not plugged in backward, or improperly
	No beeps	installed.
		Check the controller board for correct
		installation.
		• If no problem found, replace the COS SIMM.
		•	If this does not fix the problem, replace the
			controller board.
