AAL

ATM Adaption Layer

ABCD bits

The bits that carry signaling information over a T1 or E1 line.

ABR

Available Bit Rate

ACAMI

Alternate Channel AMI, transmitting data on every other DS0 in a DS1 to ensu re ones-density.

ACO

Alarm Cutoff

ACS

Advanced Communications Server

ADPCM

Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation

ADPCM port

A resource port used to compress voice or subrate data on a DS0.

ADSL

Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line

aggregate

A single bitstream combining many bitstre a ms of lower rates.
