C-2 CEGuidelines MN1942

C.1.3 Use of CE compliant components
Thefollowing points shouldbecons idered:
HUsingCE approved components will not guarantee a C E compliant system!
HThe components used in the drive, installation methods used, materials selected for
interconnection of components are important.
HThe installation methods, interconnection materials, shielding, filtering and earthing /
groundingof the s ystem as a whole will determine CE compliance.
HThe responsibility of CE mark compliance rests entirely withthe party who offers the end
systemfor sale (such as anOEM or system integrator).
C.1.4 EMC wiring technique
Cabinet
Using a typical electroplated zinc coated enclosure, c onnected to earth/ground, means that all
parts mounted on the back plane are connected to ear th/ground and all outer shield (screen)
connections can be connected to earth/ground. Within the cabinet there s hould be a spatial
separationbet ween power wiring (motor and AC power cables) and control wir ing.
Shield( screen) connections
All connections between components must use shielded cables . Thecable shields mustbe
connected to the enclosure. Useconductive clamps toensure good earth/ground connection.
Withthis t echnique, a good earth/ground shield can be achieved.
EMCfilters
Thefilter should be mounted next to the MicroFlex e100. The connections betw een theMic roFlex
e100 and the filter should use shielded (screened) cables. The cable shields should be
connected to shield clamps at both ends.
Earthing/grounding
Fors afety reasons (VDE0160), all Baldor components must be c onnected to earth/ground with
a separate wire. Earth/groundconnections mus t be made from the central earth/ground (star
point)to the regeneration res istor enclosure and from the central earth/ground (starpoint) tothe
powers upply.
