3.2 Mechanical installation and cooling requirements
Itis essential that you read and under standthis section b efore beginning the
installation.
CAUTION: Toprevent equipment damage, be certain that the input power has correc tly
ratedprotec tive devices installed.
CAUTION: Toprevent equipment damage, be certain that input and output signals are
poweredand ref erenced correctly.
CAUTION: Toensure reliable performance of this equipment be cert ainthat all signals
to/fromthe Mic roFlex e100 are shielded correctly.
CAUTION: Avoid locating the MicroFlex e100 immediately above or bes ide heat
generatingequipment, or direc tly below water steam pipes.
CAUTION: Avoidlocating the MicroFlex e100in the vic inity of corrosive subs tances or
vapors, metal particles and dust.
CAUTION: Failureto meet c ooling air flow requirements will result in reduced product
lifetimeand/or driv e overtemperature trips.
Thesafe oper ation of this equipment depends upon its use in the appropriate environment.
Thefollowing points must be considered:
HTheMicroF lex e100 must be installed indoors, permanently fixed and located sot hat it can
onlybe ac cessed by service personnel using tools .
HThemaximum s uggested operating altitude is 1000m (3300ft).
HTheMicroFlex e100 mus t be installed where the pollution degree ac cording to IEC664 shall
notexc eed 2.
HThe24VDC c ontrol circuit supply must be installed so that the 24V DC supplied to the unit is
isolatedfr omt he AC supply using double or reinforced insulation.
HTheinput of the c ontrol circuit must be limited to Safety Extra Low Voltage circuit s.
HBoththe AC supply and the 24VDC supply must be fused.
HTheatmospher e must not contain flammable gases or vapors.
HTheremust notbe abnormal lev els of nuclear radiation or X-rays.
HTocomply with CE directiv e 89/336/EEC an appropriate AC filter must be installed.
HTheMicroFlex e100 mus t be secured by the slots in the flange. The protective earth/ground
(thethreaded hole on the top of the MicroFlex e100) must be bonded to a safety earth/ground
using either a 25A conductor or a conductor of three times the peak current rating -
whichever is the greater.
HThethr eaded holes in the top and bottom of the case are for cable clamps. The holes are
threadedfor M4 bolts nolonger than11mm (0.43 in) in length.
HThe D-type connectors on the front panel of the Micr oFlex e100 are secured using two
hexagonal jack screws (sometimes known as “screwlocks”). If a jack screw is removed
accidentally or lost it must be replaced with a #4-40 UN C jack screw with an ex ternal male
threadeds ection no longer than 10mm (0.4 in).
