In many networking environments, the node ID may also be referred to as the address. On EPL networks, limitations apply to the node IDs that may be selected:
HNode ID 0 is reserved for special purposes and cannot be used.
HSetting the switches to select a node ID between 1 and 239 causes the node to become a ‘controlled node’, a node that will accept commands from the manager node.
HNode ID 240 is reserved for the EPL manager node (for example NextMove e100) so cannot be used by MicroFlex e100.
HNode IDs between 241 and 255 are reserved for special purposes and cannot be used.
For all other communication channels such as CANopen and USB, the node ID is set in software. Each channel can have a different node ID, selected using the Mint WorkBench Connectivity Wizard or the Mint BUSNODE keyword. See the Mint help file for details.
