1 Load a CD-R or CD-RW disc containing a record- able space.

For a disc loading, refer p. 38.

÷After loading the disc, check that the CD-R or CD-RW indicator stops blinking and starts to light steadily.

In case it does not light steadily or a character display (such as “Pro DISC”) appears, refer to page 108.

2 Select the input to be recorded with the INPUT SELECTOR.

÷Select COAXIAL or OPTICAL.

3 Press the RECORD (REC ) button (s).

÷This unit enters record-pause mode.

÷Wait until the time information is displayed.

4 Start playing the source player to check whether recording of that source is possible.

÷In case digital input is not input, “CAN NOT“ “REC” is displayed and recording does not start.

In case a record inhibit signal as defined by SCMS is detected, “CAN NOT” “COPY” is displayed and recording does not start. (Refer to page 108.)

5 Press the pause (8) or play (3) button. When re- cording starts, start playing the source player.

÷Press the pause (8) or play (3) buttons after the counter dis- plays “00:00”.

÷Track numbers are automatically updated when the AUTO TRACK indicator is on. In recordings of CD, MD, DAT, DCC and other digital sources, track numbers are automatically updated based on the digital signal information. Digital media such as BS (satellite broadcasting) that contains no track number informa- tion are recorded in the same way as analog media i.e. a 2 sec- ond or longer passage is assumed to be a pause between tracks. Therefore recordings of classical music and other music styles with long silent passages will be recorded on more tracks than required. Turn off the auto track function and create new tracks manually to avoid this problem. (See page 66.)

6 After recording, press the stop (7) button to end recording.

÷“PMA REC” is displayed and the unit stops after recording the track data.
