BGP and BGP4+ Configuration

Configuring BGP4+ Graceful Restart

Using BGP4+ graceful restart, the data forwarding plane of the device can continue to process and forward packets even if the control plane, which is responsible for determining best paths, fails.

The bgp graceful-restart (BGP and BGP4+) command on page 3.32 sets the maximum time that a graceful-restart neighbor waits to come back up after a restart. This value is applied to all neighbors unless you explicitly override it by configuring the corresponding value on the neighbor.

This example shows configuring BGP4+ graceful restart.
