Introduction

Square brackets: Placed around words or phrases that are names of buttons that you click or menu options that you select on a screen, and names of fields and text boxes on screens. (Example: In the [Folders] field, select [resources].

Bold type: Used for emphasis. It is also used for keywords that introduce items in a list.

Entering: Within procedures, the two-step process of keying

in text and pressing <Enter>. (Example: Enter y in the box).

Fixed pitch font: Used to indicate text that you enter in a text field on a window, such as examples of PDL commands. It also indicates text that the system displays on the screen, such as messages. Example:

LINE DATA=(1,132), FONTINDEX=133;

Italics: Indicate variables (types of items that vary from one command to another), or the position of a specified argument in the command syntax. (Example: IDEN SKIP = value).

Italics are also used for document titles and library names (for example, Using LCDS Print Description Language).
