Chapter 2 Service

Returning the Instrument to Hewlett-Packard for Service

To Pack in the Commercially Available Materials

If the factory packaging materials are not available, you can use commercially available materials for shipping.

1Wrap the instrument in heavy paper or plastic.

2Place the instrument in a strong shipping container.

A double-wall carton made of 350-lb. test material is adequate.

3Protect the control panel with cardboard.

4Add a layer of shock-absorbing material.

The shock-absorbing material should be 70 to 100 mm (3 to 4 inches) thick around all sides of the instrument to prevent movement inside the container.

5Seal the shipping container securely.

6Mark the shipping container FRAGILE.
