Chapter 2 Service

Returning the Instrument to Hewlett-Packard for Service

To Pack in the Original Packaging Materials

Whenever possible, repack the instrument in its original packaging for shipment. In any correspondence, refer to the instrument by the model number and complete serial number.

1Disconnect the power cord, probes, cables, or other accessories attached to the instrument.

2Make sure the folded corrugated spacer (which normally contains the manuals) is in the box to ensure proper fitting.

3Make sure one of the polystyrene block is in its proper position in the box.4Place the instrument, front panel end first, on the polystyrene block.

5Place the other polystyrene block on top of the rear end of the instrument to secure it.

6Do not return the manuals with the instrument. Return an accessory only when it is a part of the failure symptoms.

7Seal the shipping container securely.
