The fax functions of MS Exchange/Outlook and other Fax Group 3 applications can be used through the virtual CAPI Port modem ISDN FAX (G3).

Installing / removing the ISDN CAPI Port device driver

If you have not yet done so, first install the CAPI 2.0 device drivers for your ISDN-Controller according to the instructions in the manual.

Before starting installation of the ISDN CAPI Port Device Driver, note the following:

During installation up to eight different virtual modems are created, each of which fulfills a different function.

To use the virtual modems ”ISDN FAX (G3)” and ”ISDN Analog Modem (V.32bis)” with passive ISDN-Controllers, the device driver software of your ISDN-Controller must support these services. Contact the manufacturer for more information.

The virtual modem ”ISDN Analog Modem (V.32bis)” can be used only with passive ISDN-Controllers. The analog/digital conversion is performed by the computer's CPU. A Pentium computer with 133 MHz and at least 32 MB RAM will provide optimal performance.

It might be necessary to assign COM ports to the virtual modems. This is the case when using Dial-Up Networking software which can access only COM ports (such as older versions for Windows 3.x). See the instructions in the section ” Using Data Communications Software with an Emulated COM Port”. Before making any assignments, check which COM ports are already in use by other hardware devices like serial interfaces.

Start installation

1.Insert the disk or CD with the ISDN CAPI Port Device Driver in the appropriate drive.

2.Start the installation by double-clicking on the SETUP.EXE

3.The Modems page lists eight virtual modems which can be selected for installation:

ISDN - ISDN (X.75)

ISDN Analog Modem (V.32bis)

ISDN Custom Config

ISDN FAX (G3)

ISDN Internet (PPP over ISDN)

ISDN Mailbox (X.75)

ISDN RAS (PPP over ISDN)

Select the desired modems from the list.
