Connections and caller authentication are managed by the PPP protocol (PPP over ISDN, RFC 1618) for both operating systems. HDLC is the specified ISDN B2 protocol. The remote computer is then accessible over ISDN using network protocols such as TCP/IP, SPX/IPX or NetBEUI.

Remote access service (RAS) with Windows 95/98

See the documentation of your operating system for instructions about how to configure Remote Access Service (RAS). Should any problems with RAS arise, contact your dealer or Microsoft. In order to use Windows 95/98 RAS over ISDN, the following components must be installed:

an ISDN-Controller

CAPI device drivers (installed during the ISDN-Controller Setup)

ISDN CAPI Port Device Driver

Dial-Up Networking (and Dial-up Server module, if desired)

network protocol with appropriate client software (such as NetBEUI), bound to the Dial-up Adapter.

Make sure that all of these components are installed.

Note that Windows 95/98 can use only one Dial-up Networking connection at a time.

Setting the ISDN number for incoming calls

In the default configuration, incoming data calls are accepted for all MSNs.

To accept data calls for only one MSN of your ISDN line, enter for the virtual modem ISDN RAS (PPP over ISDN) the AT command ATS 42=1; S50=<MSN>.For more information on RAS configuration, see the documentation of your operating system or contact your dealer or Microsoft.
