Removing the Power Supply Fan Tray
To remove the power supply fan tray from the router, perform the following steps.
Step1 Loosen the captive installation screw on the honeycomb faceplate of the power
supply fan tray (see Figure 7-12).
Step2 With one hand, grasp the loosened installation screw on the power supply fan
tray faceplate; gently pull the fan tray halfway out of the guide rails to disengage
the fan tray connector from the backplane (see Figure7-12).
Caution For safety, make sure that the fans have stopped sp inning before graspi ng the fan
tray assembly. It will take several seconds for the fans to stop spinning once the assembly
is disengaged from the backplane.
Step3 Using one hand, grasp the fan tray from above and slide the assembly
completely out of the router (see Figure 7-12).
Step4 Set the fan tray aside.
If you plan to return the removed fan tray to the factory for repair or replacement, repackage
the fan tray in the original shipping container, if available, and prepare the package for
return shipment.
