Administrator’s Handbook

Example

The following is a simple example of how you might configure some VLANs:

You want to configure a 3347NWG-VGx Gateway with two SSIDs (see “Multiple SSIDs” on page 59 for more information) for two VLANs, allowing both access to the Internet. One SSID will be in the same VLAN as the four ports of the Ethernet Switch, so that those two networks can communicate. The second VLAN will be for the other SSID. The second VLAN will also be denied access to the 3347NWG-VGx web interface and tel- net interface. This setup might be useful if you have a doctor’s office or a coffee shop, and you want to keep your customers separated from the rest of the network.

1.In the VLANs page, check the Enable checkbox, select VLAN #1 in the VLANs list, and click the Edit button.

2.Check the Enable checkbox, and in the VLAN Name box, enter the name you would like.

For example, call it Network A.

Since this VLAN will be for SSID1 and the Ethernet ports, leave Admin Restricted unchecked. This will give this VLAN access to the Gateway.

3.Click the Submit button.

4.In the Port Configuration for VLAN:1 page, you add the Port Interfaces you want associ- ated with the VLAN.
