Assigning and clearing IP addresses

Using the CLI, you can assign IP addresses and Gateway addresses, clear these addresses, and view configured IP addresses. This section contains information about the following topics:

ip address command

The ip address command sets the IP address and subnet mask for the switch. The syntax for the ip address command is:

ip address <XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX> [netmask <XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX>]

The ip address command is executed in the Global Configuration command mode.

When you change the IP address or subnet mask, you may lose connection to Telnet and the Web.
