If the device receives the packet, it sends a ping reply. When the switch receives the reply, it displays a message indicating that the specified IP address is being used. If no reply is received, a message indicates that the address is not responding.

There is no default value for this command.

ip name-server command

The ip name-servercommand adds one or more DNS servers’ IP addresses. The syntax for the ip name-servercommand is:

ip name-server <A.B.C.D>

The ip name-servercommand is executed in the Global Configuration command mode.

ATTENTION

You can add up to three servers; adding one at a time.
