Storing and retrieving a switch configuration file from a TFTP server

You can store switch configuration parameters on a Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) server. You can retrieve the configuration parameters and use the retrieved parameters to automatically configure a replacement switch.

To store a switch configuration, you must set up the file on your TFTP server and set the filename read/write permission to enabled.

To download the Ethernet Routing Switch 2500 Series configuration file, a properly configured TFTP server must be present in your network, and the Ethernet Routing Switch 2500 Series must have an IP address.

To learn how to configure the switch IP address, see "Configuring BootP, IP, and gateway settings" (page 319).

To store or retrieve a switch configuration file, use the following procedure:
