5.1STARTING UP

5.1.1Before Programming

1.Determine the customer's needs.

Work with the owner, manager, and receptionist to build the Custom Service Greetings, and Holiday Greetings.

Figure out which ports are to be answered by which greetings.

Check the software level of the telephone switch.

2.Use "System Administration" and your computer for the startup sequence.

3.After the system is "on line," disconnect the CO lines going into the system until the greetings have been completed.

4.Work with the receptionist to record the system greetings.

It's important to spend time training the receptionist. Making sure that the receptionist understands the system and can answer basic questions will save you time in the end.

Show the receptionist how to transfer "general delivery messages."

5.1.2Quick Setup

Quick Setup provides a quick way to set the following programming items. Each of these must be initially set to start the VPS operation.

Quick Setup requires VT100 emulation software.
