System Menu Setup

The DX4500/DX4600 system settings should be configured before the unit is put into service. Some of the settings affect how video data is stored and backed up, and how the unit is operated and administered from a remote client application.

Date/Time: Establishes the time frame for configuring recording schedules and automated backup. Also provides the time stamp for recorded video, mail and emergency notification.

Network Time Protocol (NTP): Allows you to use a public or private time server.

User: Allows you to create user accounts for local and remote system operation and administration.

Update: Supports updating DX4500/DX4600 software over the network.

Backup: Schedules the automatic backup of recorded video.

The DX4500/DX4600 must be turned on, connected to a network, and you must be logged on at the administrator level to configure network software settings. You must restart the DVR for any network configuration changes to take effect. Be sure you are not recording video that cannot be interrupted before you change the network settings.

1.On the front panel or remote control, press the up/down arrow buttons to highlight the System menu option. Using the mouse, click system menu options. The System options are displayed.

DATE AND TIME

The System menu contains the Date/Time configuration option.

Date: Sets the date and establishes the DVR’s internal calendar for all recorded video.

Time: Sets the system time and establishes the time for all recorded video.

Date Format: Selects the date format for the displayed date and establishes the saved video format as it is recorded. Choices are MM/DD/YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY, and YYYY/MM/DD.

Time Format: Sets the display time format and establishes the format that is saved video format as it is recorded. Choices are 12-and 24-hour time format.

Time Zone: Selects the time zone in which the DX4500/DX4600 is located. Time zones are determined based on the number of hours by which they are offset from the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Daylight Saving: Ensures that recorded video displays the correct time, reflecting the annual change to daylight saving time. Select this setting if the DX4500/DX4600 is located in a state or country that observes daylight saving time.

You must configure daylight saving time on both the DX4500/DX4600 and the computer on which the remote client application is running. Configure the time zone on the remote client system, using the System menu in the Setup window. For information about configuring the time zone on the remote client PC, refer to the client operation manual.
