About Basic System Defaults

The DX4500/DX4600 comes preconfigured with system defaults that allow the DVR to be used to immediately view and record video. For a description of all of the system defaults, refer to DX4500/DX4600 Factory Defaults on page 127.

Live Video

After the DX4500/DX4600 is installed and cameras are attached, the DVR starts and immediately begins displaying live video; the DVR is also configured to record video immediately after starting. By default, the recording mode is configured for alarm and motion recording.

Log on to the system.

1. On the front panel or remote control, press the Login button . Using the mouse, click the Login icon . The virtual keyboard is

displayed. The default user name is admin. The cursor highlights the first character on the virtual keyboard.

2.Select your user name.

a.On the front panel or remote control, press the up/down arrow buttons to highlight the user name settings box. Using the mouse, click the User Name settings box.

b.On the front panel or remote control, press the left/right arrow buttons to display your user name. Using the mouse, click the settings box.

3.Enter your password.

• On the front panel or remote control, press any of the arrow buttons to select the first character of your password, and then press ENTER. Repeat this process to select the remaining characters.

• Using the mouse, click each character of the password.

4.On the front panel or remote control, press any of the arrow buttons to select OK, and then press ENTER. Using the mouse,

click OK. The system logs you on and the Login icon changes color, indicating that you have successfully logged on to the DVR.
