Storing the print cartridge
Store the print cartridge in the original packaging until you are ready to install it.
Do not store the print cartridge in:
•Temperatures greater than 40°C (104°F).
•An environment with extreme changes in humidity or temperature.
•Direct sunlight.
•Dusty places.
•A car for a long period of time.
•An environment where corrosive gases are present.
•An environment with salty air.
Replacing the print cartridge
Order a new print cartridge when the 88 Toner Low message first appears so you will have it when the current one no longer prints satisfactorily. See Ordering a print cartridge for more information.
Note: The manufacturer does not recommend that you use print cartridges from a third- party refiller. Print quality and printer reliability cannot be guaranteed if you do. For best results, use genuine Lexmark supplies.
Removing the used print cartridge
1Turn the printer off and unplug the printer power cord.
Note: Remove any print jobs from any output bins before opening the upper front door.
2Open the upper front door.
3Grasp the print cartridge by the handle.
