4.9Initializing a Disc

When recording to a DVD-R disc, set the mode to Video. For DVD-RW discs, the default is VR mode but can be switched to Video mode. Change the mode from the Disc Setup menu.

Note: Changing the mode on a DVD-RW disc erases all existing material from the disc.

The following directions refer to DVD-RW media but apply to DVD-R discs as well when choosing Video in step 3.

1.Press SETUP to access the Setup menu.

2.Highlight Disc Setup to reveal the Disc Setup menu by using the joystick.

3.Press ENTER to confirm your selection.

4.Highlight Initialize from the Disc Setup menu by using the joystick.

5.Choose the appropriate mode from the submenu.

*Video mode

*VR mode (default)

6.Use the joystick to highlight Start from the submenu.

7.Press ENTER to begin initializing the disc.

The initialization process may take up to one minute to complete.

4.10Initializing Recording Modes

The PRV-9000 and the recordable media must have compatible formats. If the disc is formatted to Video mode then the recorder must be set to Video mode before beginning a recording session. If the disc is a VR mode DVD-RW then the recorder must be set to VR mode.
