4.10.1Initialize for VR Mode Recording

When recording in VR mode (DVD-RW discs only), select either SP (standard) or MN (manual) setting. The Settings screen also provides the following information:

Total disc recording time Data transfer time

Remaining recording time (based on the current settings)

Follow the directions below to initialize a DVD-RW disc in the VR format.

1.Load a DVD-RW disc formatted for VR mode recording.

If the disc is not already formatted, the recorder automatically prepares the disc for VR recording.

2.Press REC MODE as often as needed to select your recording mode. SP (standard)

MN (manual)

3.Set the recording rate level if MN is the preferred mode.

Use the joystick to increase or decrease the quality levels and the PREV/NEXT buttons to jump to the previous/next pre-set level. Ignore this step if selecting SP as the recording mode.

4.Preview the production for picture quality if necessary. Additional instructions below

5.Press the ENTER button to save the selection and dismiss the menu.

A production preview option is available on the REC MODE submenus.

1.Select the PREVIEW menu button to activate an on-screen display of how the material will appear after recording.

2.Adjust the picture quality and/or recording time as needed.

3.Press ENTER to accept the displayed settings.

Unless changes are sent to the recorder, the settings are automatically saved after a few seconds and the menu disappears.
