9.1.1Optimized Rec (default: OFF)

If a timer program launches but there is insufficient space on the disc (VR format), the recording cuts off when the disc is filled. To avoid losing the end of the recording, set Optimized Rec to ON. The recorder automatically adjusts the recording quality levels to fit the entire session in to the available disc space. This function is only available when recording in the VR mode.

You may notice a reduction in picture quality if the recorder must fit excessive amounts of material in a limited space. If the setting is already at the lowest available level (MN 1 on standard recording or MN 9 when using the DV Input) but there is still insufficient space, the recording remains at the lowest available setting and cuts off when the disc is full.

The Optimize Recording feature only compensates for one timer program.
