Configuring VLANs 189

This password must match the enable password that was defined on the WX switch using the CLI command set enablepass. For more information, see the Wireless LAN Switch and Controller Configuration Guide.

The password is encrypted when you type it.

12Type the name of the WX switch’s configuration file, from 1 to 128 characters with no spaces, in the Configuration File box. This file is stored in the WX switch’s nonvolatile storage and is automatically loaded after the WX switch is booted. The default name is Configuration.

13To specify an MSS software image to download when you deploy changes to the WX, click Image. The Local Image Selection dialog box appears.

If the correct software image is already loaded on the WX, go to step 14. Otherwise, select a software image from the list, and click Close.

This dialog box lists the images that are in the image repository. You must add a system image to the repository for the image to appear in this list. (To add an image to the repository, see “Managing WX System Files” on page 323.)

To select a different image, click Reset to clear the image selected.

14Click another item in the organizer list, select another page in the wizard, or click Finish to save the changes and close the wizard.

Configuring VLANs A virtual LAN (VLAN) is a Layer 2 broadcast domain that can span multiple wired or wireless LAN segments. Each VLAN is a separate logical network, and, if you configure IP interfaces on the VLANs, MSS treats each VLAN as a separate IP subnet.

You configure VLANs on a WX switch’s network ports by configuring them on the WX switch itself. You configure a VLAN by assigning a name and network ports to the VLAN. Optionally, you can assign VLAN tag values on individual network ports. You can configure multiple VLANs on a WX switch’s network port. Optionally, each VLAN can have an IP address.
