To configurea serial port login authentication method:
This procedure configures an authent ication method that applie sto l ogins to devices connected
to serial ports. Yo u can select di fferent methods for individ ual ports or for groups o f ports.
1. Go to Ports - Physical Ports i n Expert mode and select a port or ports to modify.
2. Click the Access tab.
3. To select an authent ication method, select one o fth e options in the Type menu.
4. Click Done.
5. Click apply changes. The changes are sto red in the /etc/ portSlave/pSlave.conf file on the
console server.
6. Make sure that an authentic ation server issp ecified forth e selected authentication t ype.
Data Buffering
Under Ports - Physical Ports in Expe rt Mode, after you select one o rmore serial ports and cl ick
the Modify Port(s), you can select the D ata Buffering formfrom the tab bed menu. The Data
Buffering form appears.
There are different fields on this form depending o n whether one or both opt ions are enabled.
The form displays Enabl e Data Buffering and Buffer to Syslog options.
If Enable Data Bu ffering is active, the form di splays different fields depen ding on wh ether
Local or Remote i s selected from the Desti nation menu.
If Bufferto Syslo g isch ecked, data buffer filesare sent to t he syslog server.
NOTE: Goto Wizard - Step 5: SystemLog or Expert - Netwo rk- Syslog to set up a syslogserver.
