Access
Under Ports - Physical Ports in Expe rt Mode, select one or more serial ports an d click Modify
Port(s). Select Access form fromt he tabbed menu. The Access form appears.
The following ta ble describes the menu and fields on th e Access form.
Field Description
AuthorizedUsers/Groups
Restrictor deny accessto a serial port byspecifying one or more usersor
groups.
Youcan deny accessto one or more users or groups byen teringan exclamation
point(!) before the user or gr oup name.
For example,t o explicitlydenyaccess to a user callednoadm inand enab le
accessonlyto a single user called johndyou wou ldenter the following:

Type
Selectan authentication type for the serial port from the pull-down list. The
defaultis no authentication (T ype=None).
NOTE: Authenticationtype None is not a validoption wh en the serialpor t is
configuredfor Power Ma nagement connectionpr otocol. The systemdefa ults
toLocal if no au thenticationtype isselected.
BidirectionLoginTimeout
Configure the timef or the serial port to return to idle state, if the username is not
typedin the terminal after the login banner is displayed. The default timeout
valueis 60 seconds.
Thisfield is availableonly when a Bidirectional Telnet protocol is selected from
Ports- PhysicalPor ts- General - Connection Protocol.
BidirectionShellCommand
Specifythe menu shell command in this field, for example, /bin/menushand
builda custom menu for the TS pr ofileusing the web manager , Applications-
TerminalPr ofile Menu form.
Thisfield is availableonly when a Bidirectional Telnet protocol is selected from
Ports- PhysicalPor ts- General - Connection Protocol.
